Closed Captioning for the Torque Engine
What? A component for the Torque game engine that adds Closed Captions
Why? Ambient sounds in games like gunfire or explosions may indicate important events that the player needs to react upon. If you are deaf or auditory disabled you may be unable to hear such sounds and be unable to react leading to a reduced gaming experience
How?
A number of different CC options are supported that can be added to the GUI of any game built with the torque engine.
- simple- Just a text box with a caption for each sound played
- positional - places the caption at that part of the screen where it came from
- color coded - each caption has a color code indicating a different source
- spatial - each caption is preceded with spatial information
- radar - a sound radar highlights where the source of the sound originates from
